Email Marketing Integrations: Connecting the Dots

Connecting Ultimate Spin Wheel to Your Marketing Stack

The primary goal of the Ultimate Spin Wheel is list building. In the free plugin, every lead a spin captures is saved to your WordPress database (the wp_wdengage_entries table), where you can view it on the lead dashboard and export it to CSV or Excel. To push those leads automatically into a CRM or email platform the moment they are captured, you use the Integration Hub.

The entire Integration Hub is a Pro feature (Pro). Mailchimp, MailPoet, and webhook (Zapier / Pabbly) delivery, along with the background queue, retry, manual sync, and delivery logs, all require Ultimate Spin Wheel Pro. In the free plugin the Integration Hub shows a “Pro Version Required” notice. This guide explains what the Pro integrations actually do so you can plan your automation.

Available Connections (Pro)

Ultimate Spin Wheel Pro ships with three delivery targets. You can enable any combination of them at once, and each captured lead is sent to every enabled service.

  • Mailchimp (Pro): A native API connection. You enter your Mailchimp API Key and your Audience ID (sometimes called a List ID) in the plugin’s API settings. Leads are added to that audience automatically.
  • MailPoet (Pro): A native connection for WordPress’s own newsletter plugin. You provide a MailPoet list and enable the integration; leads are inserted directly into MailPoet on the same site.
  • Webhook – Zapier / Pabbly (Pro): A universal option. You paste a webhook URL and the plugin sends a JSON payload to it on every capture. Because Zapier and Pabbly Connect fan out to thousands of downstream apps, this is how you reach services that do not have a native connector — for example Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, ConvertKit, AWeber, Brevo, Google Sheets, or Slack.

Note: Only Mailchimp, MailPoet, and the webhook are built in. There is no dedicated native connector for Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, or other CRMs, and the Mailchimp setup uses a text field for the Audience ID — there is no auto-populated dropdown of your lists, so copy the ID from your Mailchimp account.

What Data Gets Sent

When a lead is captured, the integration sends a profile built from the fields your form collected, not just the email address:

  • Email: The core identifier.
  • Name: If your form’s name field is enabled.
  • Phone: If the phone field is enabled (the phone input is itself a Pro feature).
  • Prize won and coupon code: The prize label and the specific code the visitor received, which you can use to build segments in your CRM.
  • Campaign reference and timestamp: Which campaign produced the lead and when it happened.

Segmentation Strategy

Because the prize label and coupon code travel with each lead, you can treat winners differently instead of sending everyone the same email:

  • Prize-based automation: In Zapier or Pabbly, branch on the prize label — a high-value winner gets a personal “here is your reward” email, a small-discount winner gets a standard code email.
  • Source segmentation: In Mailchimp, create a segment based on the audience these leads land in, or on merge data such as the prize, so you can follow up with relevant offers.
  • Losing spins: If you use a Lose (No Prize) slice (a Pro slice type), those entries are recorded too, so you can send a “so close, try again” follow-up.

Reliability: Background Queue, Retry, and Logs (Pro)

Integrations do not block the spin. Delivery to your CRM happens in the background, so a slow or offline third-party service never delays the visitor’s result. The Integration Hub gives you the tools to keep the funnel healthy:

  • Delivery logs: Every sync is recorded with its service, lead, status (Success, Failed, or Pending), and the response returned.
  • Automatic and manual retry: Failed deliveries can be retried automatically, and you can retry an individual log entry or run a Manual Sync across pending leads from the hub — useful after you fix an API key.
  • Email quality: Ultimate Spin Wheel can block disposable and throwaway email domains at capture time (this filter runs in the free plugin and is toggled in the global settings), which keeps low-quality addresses out of your CRM.

For a walkthrough of reading and clearing these records, see the Integration Logs guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I connect multiple services at once?

Yes (Pro). Mailchimp, MailPoet, and the webhook each have their own enable toggle, so you can turn on any combination. Each captured lead is sent to every service you have enabled.

Does the Mailchimp integration support double opt-in or tags?

The built-in Mailchimp connection uses only an API key and an Audience ID — there is no double opt-in toggle or automatic tag field in the plugin. If you need double opt-in, confirmation emails, or tagging, configure that inside Mailchimp itself (on the audience), or route leads through a webhook to Zapier / Pabbly where you can add those steps.

What if I change my API key?

Deliveries will start failing until you update the key in the plugin’s API settings. After you save the new key, open the Integration Hub and use Run Manual Sync or the per-row Retry action to re-send any leads that failed while the key was wrong.

Is this GDPR compliant?

Connecting an integration transfers lead data to a third-party processor, so update your privacy policy to name the services you use (for example, “We use Mailchimp to manage our newsletter”). The free plugin also includes a GDPR consent checkbox on the lead form, which you can require before a visitor can spin.

Do I need Pro to collect leads at all?

No. Capturing names and emails, storing them in WordPress, viewing the lead dashboard, and exporting to CSV or Excel are all free. Pro is only required to push those leads out to an external CRM or email platform automatically.
