Filtering & Sorting: Surgical Analysis

Find the Signal in the Noise

Aggregate data (e.g., “Total Spins: 10,000”) is great for vanity metrics. But actionable insight comes from Segmentation.

  • Did the Mobile wheel convert better than Desktop?
  • Did the Halloween campaign outperform Christmas?
  • Did traffic spike on Saturday night?

The Analytics Command Deck is equipped with a powerful filtering engine that lets you answer these questions instantly.

1. The Filtering Toolbar

At the top of the Analytics Dashboard (and the Leads view), you will see the Filter Bar. It is collapsed by default to keep the view clean. Click the “Filter” icon to expand it.

A. Date Range (Time Travel)

Marketing is time-sensitive.

  • Presets:
    • Today: Real-time pulse check.
    • Yesterday: Post-game analysis.
    • Last 7 Days: The standard weekly view (smoothes out weekend dips).
    • Last 30 Days: The monthly reporting view.
  • Custom Range: Click the calendar icon to select a specific start and end date (e.g., Nov 24 to Nov 28 for Black Friday).

B. Campaign Selector

If you have 5 campaigns running, the “Global View” is a mess.

  • Isolate: Select “Homepage Wheel” from the dropdown. The entire dashboard (Charts, KPI Cards, Pizza Graph) will reload to show data only for that wheel.
  • Why use this? To debug. If your Global Conversion Rate drops, filter by campaign to find the specific “bad apple” that is dragging down the average.

C. Status Filter (Leads View Only)

In the Leads table, you can filter by “Outcome”:

  • Won: Show me the winners.
  • Lost: Show me the unlucky ones.
  • Redeemed: (Pro) If coupon tracking is active, show who used the code.

2. Smart Sorting

Tables are interactive. You don’t need a static list.

Clickable Headers

Every column header in our data tables is clickable.

  1. Date: Click to sort Oldest -> Newest (or vice versa).
  2. Prize: Sort alphabetically to group all “10% Winners” together.
  3. Spins (Campaign Table): Click to rank your campaigns from Highest Traffic to Lowest.

3. Comparison Scenarios (How-To)

Here are three common analysis workflows you should master.

Scenario A: The “Weekend Spike” Hunt

Question: Do I get more leads on weekends?

  1. Set Date Range to the last month.
  2. Look at the Trend Line Chart.
  3. Hover over the spikes. Are they Saturdays?
  4. Insight: If yes, schedule your email blasts for Saturday morning!

Scenario B: The “Broken Wheel” Check

Question: Is my new campaign working?

  1. Filter Campaign -> Select “New Wheel”.
  2. Look at Conversion Rate.
  3. Result: If it says “0% Conversion” but “500 Impressions”, your popup is showing (Impressions), but nobody is clicking (Spins). Action: Change the button color or the headline.

Scenario C: The Inventory Check

Question: Did we give away too many T-Shirts?

  1. Filter Date Range -> “Last 7 Days”.
  2. Look at the Prize Distribution Pie Chart.
  3. Result: You see “T-Shirt” is 50% of the pie.
  4. Action: Go to Campaign Settings > Probabilities and lower the T-Shirt probability from 50% to 10% immediately.

4. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Do filters apply to the PDF Export? A: Yes. This is a powerful feature. If you filter to “Campaign A” and click Export PDF, the PDF will generate a report specifically for Campaign A. This allows you to create granular reports for different stakeholders.

Q: Can I save a filter preset? A: Currently, the dashboard resets to “Last 30 Days” (default) when you refresh the page. We do not persist custom filters in the session to avoid confusion (e.g., forgetting you are looking at last year’s data).

Q: Why does the chart disappear when I filter? A: If you filter for a date range where there is no data (e.g., checking “Tomorrow”), the chart library cannot render a zero-point line and may hide the canvas. This is normal. Just clear the filter.

Conclusion

Filtering transforms a generic dashboard into a surgical instrument. Use it to slice your data, find the hidden trends, and make data-backed decisions that grow your business.
