Controlling the “Who, When, and Where”
The Visibility tab is not just a settings page; it is the “Command Center” for your campaign. This is where you determine the success or failure of your marketing strategy.
A beautiful wheel that appears on the wrong page (like Checkout) will annoy users and hurt sales. A wheel that appears too often will be marked as spam.
This guide provides a comprehensive breakdown of every feature in the Visibility panel, explaining not just what it does, but why you should use it.
1. General Settings (Campaign Identity)
This section defines the fundamental nature of your campaign.
Status
- Enabled (Live): The campaign is active and visible to the public (subject to your rules).
- Disabled (Draft): The campaign is hidden. Use this when you are designing a new wheel or pausing a seasonal offer.
Layout Type
This determines how the wheel is presented to the user.
- Popup (Modal): The standard, high-converting overlay. It dims the background and focuses 100% of attention on the wheel. Best for: Lead Generation.
- Spin Wheel (Inline): Embeds the wheel directly into a page or sidebar widget using a shortcode. It does not pop up. Best for: Landing Pages or “Win a Prize” dedicated pages.
- Campaign Banner: A subtle bar at the top/bottom of the site that triggers the wheel when clicked. Best for: Mobile-first designs.
Max Impressions (Budget Control)
- What it is: A hard limit on how many times the campaign can be shown in total (not per user).
- Use Case: You have a limited budget. You can only afford to give away 500 prizes. Set “Max Impressions” to
2000(assuming a 25% conversion rate). Once reached, the campaign auto-disables. - Value:
0means unlimited.
2. Campaign Schedule (Automation)
Stop waking up at midnight to turn on sales.
Schedule Type
- Show Always: The campaign runs indefinitely. Perfect for your “Evergreen” welcome offer (e.g., “10% Off First Order”).
- Date Range (Pro): This allows you to schedule “Time-Bound” campaigns.
- Start Date: The exact minute the campaign becomes visible.
- End Date: The exact minute it disappears.
- Strategy: Set up your “Black Friday” wheel to start on Nov 24th at 00:00 and end on Nov 30th at 23:59. The plugin automatically handles the switch.
3. Audience Settings (User Roles)
Not all visitors are the same. Segment your offers based on who is looking.
- All Users: The default. Everyone sees it.
- Logged Out (Guests):
- Strategy: Use this for “New Customer Acquisition.” Offer them a “10% Welcome Discount.”
- Why? Existing customers already have accounts; they don’t need a welcome discount.
- Logged In (Members):
- Strategy: Use this for “VIP Loyalty Rewards.”
- Why? Reward your returning user base with a “Monthly Spin.”
- Specific Roles:
- Wholesale: Target only
Wholesale Customerswith bulk-buy discounts. - Authors: Hide marketing wheels from your site contributors.
- Wholesale: Target only
4. Device Visibility (Mobile Strategy)
Mobile traffic is often >70% of your visits, but popups can be annoying on small screens.
- Hide on Mobile: Completely disables the campaign on phones.
- Hide on Desktop: Completely disables it on large screens.
- Strategy: Create Two Campaigns.
- Desktop Campaign: Uses a large, detailed “Popup” wheel.
- Mobile Campaign: Uses a simplified “Campaign Banner” or “Icon Trigger” to be less intrusive and Google-compliant. Target each campaign to its respective device.
5. Frequency & Cooldown Logic
This is the most critical section for User Experience (UX). It controls how often the wheel reappears. We separate this into two distinct triggers because a “Dismissed” user acts differently than a “Winner.”
A. After Dismiss (The “Not Interested” User)
- Scenario: A user sees the popup and clicks the “X” button without spinning. They are saying “Not now.”
- Re-show Behavior:
- Until Next Session: Shows again if they close the browser tab and come back later. (Aggressive).
- Hide for X Hours: e.g., 1 Hour. Good for flash sales.
- Hide for X Days: (Recommended: 3-7 Days). Respect their choice. If they closed it, don’t show it again tomorrow.
B. After Play (The “Winner”)
- Scenario: A user spins the wheel. They have participated.
- Show Again After (Free Version):
- Never (Hide Forever): Once they spin, the wheel is gone for them. This creates a “One-Time Offer” feeling.
- X Hours / X Days: Allows them to spin again after a cooldown. Good for “Daily Luck” campaigns.
- Limitation: This relies on Cookies. If the user clears their cookies or uses a different browser, they can spin again.
C. Identity Verification & Cooldown (Pro Version) ⚡
- The Problem: Cookies are not secure. Users can cheat by opening an “Incognito” window to spin unlimited times until they win the Jackpot.
- The Solution: Identity Check.
- Check Type:
- Email: We check if
[email protected]has played before. - Phone: We check if
+1555...has played before. - Both: Strict verification.
- Email: We check if
- Cooldown Period (The Lock):
- Never (One-time only): STRICT. Even if they use a different computer, if they use the same email, they cannot spin again. This is essential for high-value prizes.
- After X Hours/Days: They can spin again using the same email after the timer expires. Perfect for “Come back tomorrow for another chance” retention strategies.
6. Targeting Rules (Inclusion & Exclusion)
Control exactly where the wheel appears. The logic follows a hierarchy: Exclusions override Inclusions.
A. Display On (Inclusion)
- Entire Site: Simple.
- Specific Pages: High control. Target your high-traffic blog posts with a “Content Upgrade” wheel.
- Special Pages:
- 404 Page: Turn a negative experience (“Page Not Found”) into a positive one (“Oops! The page is gone, but here is a discount!”).
B. Not Display On (Exclusion)
Critical Rule: You must use this feature to protect your checkout flow.
- Add Exclusion: Cart Page, Checkout Page, My Account.
- Why? Once a customer is in the checkout process, your marketing job is done. Do not distract them with a popup. Popups at checkout increase cart abandonment rates.
Conclusion
The Visibility Panel allows you to be a “Sniper,” not a “Shotgun.” Instead of blasting everyone within random popups, you can use Identity Verification and Smart Cooldowns to ensure fair play and a respectful user experience.
